YO Bakehouse is an artisanal bakery and coffee house just off the Market Square in the pretty market town of Malton. It was opened in August 2016 by Chris and David, a talented duo that we have met at some of Yorkshire’s best food and drink events.
The pair aim to give customers a relaxing experience filled with fabulous cakes, brownies and more. Malton’s very own Roost roast and supply the coffee, while Easy Teasy of Newcastle upon Tyne and Forleaves, another Malton favourite, are the folks behind YO Bakehouse’s delicious loose-leaf tea. As well as great coffee and tea, expect a face-to-face welcome and a memorable, cosy interior. YO Bakehouse is certainly a place to linger.
Enjoy a light lunch including a soup of the day, sandwiches and quiches, and finish with a delightful scone, fresh fruit tart, flapjack or brownie. The savoury ploughman’s scone is a winner, as is YO Bakehouse’s signature cheese scone, split and served with sliced apple and Baytree onion marmalade. For a sweeter edge, we recommend the lemon and poppy seed scone.
Fresh fruit tarts are always available – kiwi, raspberry and blueberry – and you should definitely enjoy them with crème patisserie. Their Battenberg and millionaire’s shortbread are also perfect, especially with a pot of tea.
We recommend lingering here over morning coffee and the Yorkshire Post, or later in the afternoon with tea, cake and a Yorkshire glossy magazine. But you could equally order take-out.
