Douro Port Dinner | The Olive Branch of Clipsham
Hosted by Pedro Branco of Quinta do Portal and local wine supplier Charles Hawkins.
An opportunity to discover how well Port and Port wines match to different foods particularly autumnal dishes, it will be a revelation to all attending! Pedro will be presenting his wines from Quinta do Portal situated in the heart of the Douro. Until 1991 The Branco family were producers of ports only from their small vineyard – Quinta do Muros – selling it to larger producers to blend. In 1991 the family decided to produce wines themselves and purchased Sandeman’s vineyards. Their Estate is now approximately 100 hectares. Pedro was at the heart of this project and he now travels the world presenting their wines and ports and telling the story of the families journey.
Pedro will guides us through the various wines, explaining the different styles, grape varietes and wine making methods that make each of these wines so different and so special.
Our Head Chef Luke and his team will prepare and cook all the dishes. Pedro will introduce the wines he has chosen to match the dishes and will be happy to answer questions throughout the evening.
The evening starts at 7pm with an opportunity to meet our host and mingle with other guests. At 7.30pm we sit down around one large table in the ‘Barn’ for the dinner with wines to accompany each course.
