Have you signed the Back British Farming charter?

Published on April 3, 2014

Great Food Club is calling on all of its 150-odd member businesses – plus its 4,400 consumer members – to sign the National Farmers’ Union’s Back British Farming Charter.

The Charter aims to reverse the decline in UK food and drink self-sufficiency by encouraging restaurants, pubs, food shops and individuals to source from British farmers.

Currently, the UK produces just 62 per cent of its own food.

Great Food Club believes that by committing to buying or sourcing more British food and drink, we take an important step towards self sufficiency. Greater self sufficiently is desirable because it reduces unnecessary food miles and supports British farming and conservation. It also means we are more secure.
