Mum’s Back – the perfect foodie gift for new mums

Stamford-based mum of two, Sally Bunkham, came up with the concept for her foodie hamper business Mum’s Back when she realised there was a lack of gifts for new mums.

She says: “There are so many presents for new baby, which is lovely, but I wanted something purely to indulge mum. After all, she’s the one who’s been through the magical but exhausting journey of pregnancy and childbirth. For me and many of my friends, one of the first things we wanted to do after having the baby (aside from looking after it!) was get our hands on the stuff we’d not been allowed for nine months.”

Mum’s Back hampers contain several delicious items mum has not been allowed while pregnant: things like wine, paté and cheese (see full list below). What’s more, £1 from every hamper sold goes to PANDAS Foundation, who support women with perinatal mental health conditions. Sally herself suffered from postnatal depression after giving birth to her second baby and wanted to support women in similar situations.

Sally says: “There is still a big taboo around postnatal depression. Society puts pressure on new mums to feel a certain way, and that expectation can cause anxiety and stress at an emotional and exhausting time. I wanted to raise awareness of the condition and try to support other women.”

Mum’s Back has just launched, and the hampers will have the online price of £55 each. The first 50 customers will get 20% off at £44, which includes free delivery anywhere in the UK. You can order here. Once these have been snapped up, GFC members can purchase the hampers at £49, which includes free delivery in the UK. To take advantage of this drop sally@mumsback.com an email with your GFC membership number.

You can also purchase a hamper to be delivered at a later stage, if there is someone special in your life expecting a baby. Just email sally@mumsback.com with a rough idea of the baby’s due date.

What’s in the hamper?

– A half bottle of CVNE Old World Rioja Wine
– A 200g block of Vintage Lincolnshire Poacher cheese
– A 90g jar of Duck & Armagnac Paté (by Cottage Delight)
– Oval Albert Biscuits (also by Cottage Delight – they go beautifully with the cheese & pate)
– Deerview fig chutney (100g)
– A ‘Mum’s Back’ gift card (blank or hand written as per instructions)

Although the hamper is predominantly aimed at new mums, it also makes a lovely gift for all mums who like their wine, paté and cheese!
