Casa Silva has been producing wines at their Colchagua Estate and winery at Angostura since 1912. From 1995, the fifth Generation of Silvas have taken this family producer to an incredible level, pioneering many sub-regions in their home, the Colchagua Valley, leading the way in Los Lingues, Lolol and the Cool, Coastal Paredones, driving incredible studies into the Carnmenere grape, real pioneers. The wines display the true terroir, the character of the place and the people, elegant, full of character and personality. Amongst the wines we will be drinking, are Chile’s first ever Patagonian Riesling and the Number One wine from the Carmenere Grape in Chile… exciting!

Olive Branch Wine Dinner

Johnny Bingham in his own words: “Unbeknownst to him at the time, having played cricket with the future Chilean cricket Captain throughout school and yet to fall in love with, or even taste, the wines of this magnificent country. It was clearly part of his destiny, that Chile, the people and the wines, was to become a huge part of this young leg-spinners’ (and destructive middle order batsman’s’) life! With wine-making experience based in the rougher parts of Western Australia, the principals of viticulture and vinification became second nature, but he realised that growing vines was such a skill and required so much detail and work, understanding the land, that meeting the Silva family was a revelation, life and career changing! For 19 years, Johnny has had the great honour to represent this amazing family and their wines in the UK. To witness the passion, drive, the understanding and respect for their land, to be part of one of the great wine stories and adventures.”

The evening starts at 7pm in the bar and an opportunity to meet and mingle with other guests.

At 7.30 we all go into the ‘Barn’ for the dinner with wines to accompany each course. The wines are introduced by Johnny, who will be happy to answer any questions.

It is probably best to have booked a taxi home, you are welcome to leave your car here overnight or book one of our six luxurious rooms at Beech House.

We are sure you will have an enjoyable evening, with good food, great wines and convivial company, and hopefully you will have learned something about the magic of wine.
