Made in Northants group celebrates fifth birthday

Northamptonshire food and drink group Made In Northamptonshire (MIN) has celebrated its fifth anniversary.

More than 100 members of MIN attended the event at Beckworth Emporium, Mears Ashby on January 25, including local producers, food retailers and restaurateurs, who enjoyed a specially-designed, gluten-free birthday cake made by MIN member Vicky Robertson of The Happy Little Cake Company.

MIN was set up by Rachel Mallows of The Mallows Company who, through her role as director of the Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards, recognised that providing collaborative working opportunities to the sector could bring a boost for the county.

The group produces an annual directory that lists more than 100 products and drinks made in Northants – including meats, pies, cakes, chocolates, beers and wines – and venues across the county where they can be sourced. It also operates a logo scheme.

Among those to speak about how their membership had been beneficial to their business was Simon Varney of Moulton Fruit & Veg in Northampton and Phil Saxby of Saxby’s Cider in Irchester.
