Cocoa Amore

Member offer:

10% off chocolates. Please show your Great Food Club membership card at the till.

In late 2015 Cocoa Amore outgrew its Silver Arcade home and moved into much larger premises on Silver Street, joining the growing list of high quality independent food and drink businesses around the St Martins area of Leicester.

Wandering by, you might find yourself tempted by the sight of chocolates being hand-made on a granite slab. Enter, and you can try best-sellers such as Eton Mess, salted caramel or Marc du Champagne truffles, as well as enjoy hot chocolate or even match a glass of port, dessert wine or porter with a favourite truffle or chocolate-tinged savoury treat.

Upstairs there’s more production space and also an area for Cocoa Amore’s popular workshops. On offer are two-hour personalised sessions where you can learn all about cocoa production and make your own unique chocolates.

Most of Cocoa Amore’s creations use premium high-quality chocolate from Luker, a socially and environmentally responsible company that is improving the quality of life for farmers in Colombia. The company also has plans to make a difference here in the UK and, inspired by Jamie Oliver’s 15, will be offering young apprentices a chance to learn new skills.

Chinese Five Spice Praline. Simply the best chocolates. Ever. Anywhere. Except maybe the Peanut Butter Cup…or the Eton Mess…

  2. Avatar Martin Burch says:

I gave Cocoa Amore a days notice (by phone), and they came up with a selection of delicious truffles & chocolates specially chosen for me and what I want and like, and with seasonal flavours. I got 15 boxes of 6 chocolates for Christmas presents, all looking very attractive and classy. And with the Great Food Club discount of 10%, all for £81. Their chocolate is high-end proper stuff, ethically sourced, and they can cater to allergies and avoidances of things like nuts, dairy, gluten, alcohol etc. And you can watch them work!

  3. Avatar Tim Savage says:

Cocoa Amore has a fantastic range of delicious chocolate, made in-house and from other suppliers worldwide. Chocolate takes many forms including a range of individual chocolates at the counter, occasional solid-chocolate Easter eggs, cocoa nibs, chocolate-covered coffee beans and selection boxes.

They also do ‘desserts’ which are well worth a try. The chocolate brownie and egg and soldiers are a highlight, featuring a lovely sorbet and passion fruit yolk respectively. Hot chocolates are also very tasty, accompanied by an individual chocolate of your choice and available dairy-free!

The more than chocolate part comes from the experiences and events. I attended a chocolate workshop, which was around 2-3 hours of learning about chocolate, tasting samples from around the world and finally making some. The best part of this was trying different flavours and essences to put in your own chocolates. They advertise their upcoming events which are throughout the year.

Definitely pop in and see what Cocoa Amore has to offer, even if it’s just the cocoa handwash.
