Kilo Wine Bar
Quorn-based wine merchant, Kilo Wines, started out with the intention of showcasing fine, affordable Italian wines from small, family-run vineyards directly to the consumer. In particular, founder Nick Robinson wanted to bring the wines of Italian producer Enrico Marcato – as well as those of other passionate, independent producers – to the UK with the aim of making them available to individuals – as well as bars and restaurants.
Previously exclusively a merchant, the business has since expanded to include Kilo Wine Bar, a wonderful addition to the Quorn hospitality scene. It’s open daily from 9am-11pm offering up a wide range of wines from Italy and from other countries too. Either pick out a couple of bottles to take away, or sit down and enjoy a glass or two in stylish surroundings in the heart of Quorn. They also have a charming and relaxed outdoor space called The Wine Yard, especially popular on warm summer evenings, and dog friendly too!
Although a wine bar wouldn’t be the most obvious place to go for breakfast, Kilo is the exception that proves the rule! With a simple range of pastries, Greek yoghurt, eggs benedict or a bacon ciabattas, there’s something for most tastes. Lunches definitely feel more Italian though! Simple paninis and sandwiches featuring prosciutto, salami, provolone or mozzarella will take you through to mid afternoon. And in the evening you can pair your wine with olives, arancini, soup of the day or a nice piece of cake.
Kilo is rightly proud of its wines and its service. Whether you’re ordering wine in bulk, taking a couple of bottles home from the shop, or just spending a couple of hours with a drink and a snack, there’s a lot to like about Kilo!
