NAN TEI in Nottingham is a satisfyingly authentic and down-to-earth Japanese restaurant modelled on Tokyo’s traditional yakitori bars. It’s run by a friendly Japanese team, led by owner Chi Mok, and specialises in grilled meat, fish and vegetarian skewers (‘yakitori’ means ‘skewered chicken’). However, there are plenty of other options, such as katsu, ramen, miso soup and gyoza.
Food is prepared in an open kitchen and everything on the menu is keenly priced.
NAN TEI offers an authentic, laid-back Japanese dining experience. Grab one of the café-style seats, order a bottle of Sapporo and get stuck in. There a good sake range, too.
