Oakhill is a beautiful Grade 2 listed Georgian boutique hotel in the Derbyshire countryside. It’s set in extensive landscaped gardens within the historic village of Cromford, in the UNESCO Derwent Valley World Heritage Site. The property was originally built as a family home by the Arkwright family in the mid 19th Century. And although, until recently, the hotel was known as Alison House Hotel, it’s now been returned to its original name Oakhill.
Owners Sharon and Mark Cooper took on the property in 2021 and have done a wonderful job with a holistic restoration and refurbishment. As a result, Oakhill is now a luxurious yet relaxed venue to dine, drink and stay. The menu is updated regularly to make the most of in-season local produce. It blends British classics with internationally-influenced dishes. Homemade soups, prawn cocktail and lamb shank sit alongside stroganoff, curries and shish kebabs. On Sundays, they combine pub staples like scampi & chips or gammon with a wide range of roasts. And if you’re just there for a mid-afternoon brew, why you could indulge in an Oakhill afternoon tea featuring sandwiches, scones and cakes; all freshly made!
If you’re planning a longer visit, Oakhill has four beautifully furnished suites, all with exceptional views. Each room is finished to an a wonderful standard with original features and thoughtful heritage touches throughout. There are eleven further bedrooms offering comfortable and spacious accommodation, with en-suite facilities.
