The Old Guinea between Potters Bar and Shenley is a charming country pub with a rich history dating back to 1826. It’s located in the small village of Ridge, and is no longer a pub, but more a family-run Italian restaurant.
Inside, very pleasantly decorated. Stylish without being fussy with seats at the bar and a few tables around. But it’s out the back where the Old Guinea really comes into its own. There is a light and airy conservatory area looking out over the Hertfordshire countryside.
They are open daily for breakfast – eggs, full breakfasts or pancake stacks. But lunch is definitely more an Italian feel. This is a trattoria menu – pizzas, pastas, meats and sharing platters. The pizzas are made using 48-hour proved homemade dough and the pastas taste exceptionally fresh and cooked with real care.
Definitely worth popping in!
