Hillers Farm Shop wins Midlands title in Countryside Alliance Awards

Hillers Farm Shop of Dunnington near Alcester in Warwickshire is Local Food Winner for the Midlands in the Countryside Alliance Awards.

Nominated by the public, the awards recognise those who go the extra mile for their community.

The regional finalists were announced in December 2016, and in February Hillers discovered that they had been named Joint Regional Champions 2016 for Local Food Category, alongside Ludlow Food Centre. The grand final is to take place at the House of Lords in London on March 22.

“We are delighted,” said Michelle Scarrott of Hillers. “Our award arrived this morning and we’ve been celebrating ever since. This year’s category of Local Food means a lot to us as we continue to support local farmers and producers alongside our thriving ‘Hillers Own’ range from our farm shop kitchen, which is a major part of our business today”.

Hillers are proud to host Ragley Estate Meats and Hillers Fish Shop within their farm shop; these businesses are both independently run but complement the shop, allowing customers to do all of their shopping under one roof.

Jill Grieve, Countryside Alliance Director and leader of the local judging panel says: “Hillers is the family-run enterprise that gets better and better. We have honoured them before in these awards, but since then they have extended their shop, cheese counter and butchery, installed a fish counter and also converted some farm buildings into a café that is so popular that booking is essential. Hillers customers are very lucky to have this gem on their doorstep.”
