Producer of the Year: Great Food Club Awards 2021/22

Winner

Chosen by our judges:

Mill Farm, Manthorpe, Lincolnshire

Shortlist

The top public vote-winners:

Mill Farm, Manthorpe, Lincolnshire
Round Corner Brewing, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire
Farmer Lou, Oakham, Rutland
Ruddy Fine Gin, Ruddington, Nottinghamshire

The winner is Mill Farm of Manthorpe – a family-run farm and butcher’s shop that started life in the 1940s. It sells its own lamb and makes sausages, haslet, burgers and more. It also sells carefully sourced meat produced by friends who run farms nearby.

Our judges were impressed by the quality of Mill Farm’s lamb, by the animal welfare on display, and by the positive role that Mill Farm plays in the local community.

After announcing our Producer Award Shortlist, several Mill Farm customers got in touch to say how pleased they were that their local farm and butcher’s shop had received recognition. For example, David wrote to say: “What a little gem we have in our midst. We’ve patronised The Mill Farm Shop since the mid-’80s and wouldn’t think of going anywhere else… We are fortunate to have such kind, considerate people in our lives. The added bonus, if one were needed, is that the foodstuffs are first rate.”

Mill Farm is a brilliant example of a small-scale village producer that provides excellent-quality food and offers a stunning service.

Congratulations to all four shortlisted businesses.
