Burleighs Gin smashes investment target in crowdfunding campaign

The month-long Crowdcube raise saw Leicestershire-based distiller, Burleighs, eclipse its £250,000 target, raising just under £500,000.

The business, currently valued at £4.1 million, attracted more than 291 investors, with sums varying from £10 to £250,000. Burleighs now plans to use the investment to accelerate its global drive by expanding its distillery, hiring more team members and establishing a position in the US & Asian gin markets.

Managing director Matt Payne said: “Crowdfunding has been an excellent opportunity for us to connect even more closely with our loyal customers. Our achievements have always been driven by the end consumer and we are excited to share in our future success with those who decided to invest.”

Commercial director Sam Watson added: “We are grateful to everyone who has invested in Burleighs. No matter what size, every investment is a helping hand in our drive for global success. It is humbling that over 250 people believe in our brand vision and strategic direction enough to invest.”

Burleighs has established itself in the highly competitive gin market over the past five years with a unique offering that includes the newly launched Marilyn Monroe Pink Gin.

Burleighs is now backing itself to become a global player in the gin market, with the investment campaign marking an important milestone in the business’s growth.
