Angelo’s Bistro

Angelo’s Bistro in Duffield, is a family-run restaurant in Duffield, Derbyshire. It’s a venue of two halves: at the front, the busy Kings Head pub and in the back Angelo’s Bistro.

Angelo and Carly Carrieri, owners of the bistro, have created a welcoming environment of high-beamed ceilings, exposed brick walls and clever décor.

Angelo’s menu is described as a modern spin on homemade Italian classics and as you work through the menu you can see why. Start with classic Italian antipasto of bruschetta, caprese salad or calamari fritti or alternatively there’s a prawn cocktail or brie wedges with breadcrumbs. Main courses include traditional Italian staples such as lasagne, penne al forno or linguini marinara, but there are a few different touches too. The tagliatelle ragu features slow braised beef fillet and a hint of chilli and the pollo arrabiatta comes with potato gnocchi topped with pesto and parmesan cheese.

You’d be crazy to leave without sampling the desserts. Angelo’s has some British favourites like cheesecake, profiteroles or ice-cream sundae, but as it’s Italian you might want to try the pannacotta or the tiramisu!

As it’s located in a pub, there’s an extensive wine list to complement the menu and ample beers, soft drinks and cocktails. The service is quick and friendly, even on very busy evenings.

Whether you’re a local or just passing through Duffield, Angelo’s Bistro is a great venue for both casual meals and special occasions.
