The Loaf
The Loaf artisan bakery in Crich opened in 2008 but the premises has been home to a bakery for more than 100 years! You can pick up traditional loaves here such as wholemeal tin, soft white farmhouse and white flavoured batch, but you’ll also find French baguettes, croissants and pain au levain. Italian bread is also on the menu – panini, ciabatta and rosemary filone (said to be best enjoyed with smoked bacon from Crich butchers across the road). In fact, there are so many types of bread it would be impossible to list them all!
If you’re seeking something sweet, how about iced buns, Belgian buns or the bakery’s special creation – Crich Fruit Squares – made with a combination of rye and wholemeal flour and masses of fruit?
There’s a deli counter laden with local preserves, continental cheeses, olives and cured meats. And from Tuesday to Sunday the cafe serves up coffee from nearby Buxton Roastery, cakes, plus myriad breakfast and lunch options.
