French Living

Nottingham is home to French Living, a restaurant, cafe and deli offering many Gallic delights. It’s been run by Stephane (from Corsica) and his wife Louise (from Nottingham) since 1994 and, in that time, has gone through many transformations. Today it’s a place to pop in for traditional French produce from farmhouse cheese to charcuterie or to sit down and enjoy authentic French cooking.

During the day from Tuesday to Saturday, there’s a Menu du Jour which is just £20 for three courses while, in the evenings, there’s a more comprehensive menu – this could be Mouclade Rochelaise (mussels with creamy saffron sauce) to start; Effilochee de Boeuf (pulled beef medallion with bourguignon sauce) for main course, and to finish; crème brûlée.

Expect to be tempted by the excellent house wine and beer – and it would be rude not to kick off an evening meal with a traditional apéritif such as Pastas Ricard. And don’t forget the digestif either. When in France…
