Limas in Long Eaton is a laidback neighbourhood small-plates restaurant where the food leads the experience. This independent spot has quickly built a loyal following for creative, regularly changing dishes, warm hospitality and a relaxed, sociable atmosphere.
The kitchen brings imagination and technical skill. The menu changes frequently, so there is always something new to try, but the approach stays consistent: fresh, carefully prepared small plates designed for sharing.
On our visit, highlights included buttermilk chicken with wild garlic Caesar and Old Winchester cheese, cod and crab fritters with pineapple, coconut and Scotch bonnet sauce, and salt-baked celeriac with apple caramel, rocket pesto and savoury granola. Each dish showed balance and attention to detail.
The wider menu moves comfortably between meat, seafood and vegetable-led dishes. You might find lamb loin with smoked aubergine and salsa verde, treacle-cured salmon with pickled rhubarb and wasabi mayo, or miso-braised leeks with whipped tofu and dukkah. There are also boards, olives and focaccia to start, making it easy to build a relaxed, shareable meal. The team recommend around three plates per person, with dishes arriving as they are ready.
Limas recently earned two AA Rosettes, and it is easy to see why. The cooking shows flair, and the atmosphere remains friendly, welcoming and down-to-earth. The restaurant is also a strong choice for gluten-free dining, with carefully prepared gluten-free dishes and alternatives such as gluten-free focaccia available on request.
Free on-street parking is available on Lime Grove, while a free car park on Princess Street is just a two-minute walk away (NG10 4LG).
