Nuovo in the bustling heart of Northampton specialises in small plates inspired by Venetian cuisine – or “cicchetti” as they are known in Italy.
Before joining Nuovo, head chef Scott Williams worked in several Michelin-starred restaurants. He also ran the kitchen on Richard Branson’s private island, Necker.
Nuovo is a former winner in the Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards. It’s a stylish, laid-back restaurant, and the food is a delight. On our visit, we shared three dishes – pesto-crusted chicken, Ravioli of the Day, and a lovely fennel, orange and black olive salad. All were carefully put together, nicely cooked and full of flavour. A few other dishes caught our eye for next time – quince-glazed pork belly, duck with mustard fruit, and an almond & damson tart.
Prices are reasonable, the drinks list is tempting and the staff are helpful and welcoming. Nuovo a real winner.
