Ember opened its doors in 2022 but has already picked up a handful of awards including being a finalist in our Great Food Club Awards 2023/2024. Not only that, there’s a long waitlist for weekend tables so you’ll need to book in advance if you’re planning to visit on a Saturday or Sunday.
It’s located in Nene Court in Wellingborough, a former gas light works which is big on charm and character. There’s a diverse menu with food cooked on an open fire (hence the name) and this includes Scandinavian-style barbecue dishes and Argentinian specialities. We tried the Cornbread and Pork Belly – both were glorious. The menu itself was inspired by the owner’s travels and it’s unlike anything else you’ll find in the area.
The restaurant is also opening a new cocktail bar next door for those who fancy a pre-dinner tipple or just a couple of drinks of an evening.
