Important information: Bulwick Village Shop & Cafe was damaged by fire in February 2019. The owners are working on getting the business back up and running again as soon as possible.

Bulwick Village Shop is the birthplace of The Pickled Village’s award-winning pickles and preserves. The pretty shop offers a selection of the founder Camille Ortega McLean’s favourite artisan products – perfect for gifts – as well as all the staples like milk, tea, bread, cheese and sweets.

The shop and terrace are now also licensed for on and off sales of Champagne, prosecco, wines, beers, vodkas and gins. The covered terrace is open each day for tapas, ploughman’s lunch and many other delicious bites, including a proper full English breakfast, generously filled Hambleton Bakery rolls and freshly made soups.

For impressive goodie boxes for almost every occasion visit The Pickled Shop online. These boxes make brilliant gifts and bespoke orders are welcome.

Camille’ pickles are absolutely delicious. My daughter Ella, introduced me to some of her favourites and I’m now smitten. Unfortunately, living in the very South of England, I have not yet had the opportunity to visit her lovely shop to see and sample the range of cakes, food and endless goodies within but, one of these days…..

  2. Avatar Sally McKeown says:

This is a wonderful shop, step through the door and you are treated to a marvellous array of tempting goodies, from jams and pickled from the superb Pickled Village range to scrumptious home-made cakes, with lots of basic staples in between. It caters for visitors and local needs alike and is a model for the sort of shop that rural communities are in great need of. In these days of ‘fast’ everything, it’s such a joy to find an establishment run by lovely people who make their customers so welcome.

  3. Avatar Matthew Cox says:

We are so lucky to have this place nearby, it’s a complete one-off and does everything so well. They have a delicious home cooked menu, the setting is idyllic, the shop is full of amazing goodies and the people who run it are so lovely. I don’t normally write reviews but this place is special. Six stars!

Having worked next door for 5 years I can honestly say this is a must visit little shop. Not only does it have a great selection of pickles and chutneys but when you enter the shop you are guaranteed an experience. Such a positive vibe. Love your work guys.

We first visited this shop last year whilst on holiday, we were so impressed with their pickles that we called in again this year to replenish our stock, we also had a pot of tea and delicious cherry pie. The owners were very nice, chatting away with us. I hope they win, they deserve to.

I am biased as Camille is my mother, but this is exactly the sort of shop you want to come across in the middle of the English countryside. Local speciality products sit alongside good quality essentials and you’re sure to find gifts and goodies for everyone. The jewel in the crown is the range of products from The Pickled Village – a company my mother founded. All the recipes are inspired by her international background and often come with a little kick – blood orange marmalade with chilli and blueberry jam with Bourbon are two surprising and delicious examples. Every day is a tasting day in the shop with the full range of The Pickled Village products out for sampling. Following on from the success of the last gin tasting, a calendar of tastings are planned for the summer.

If you’re looking for a a present, The Pickled Shop range of hampers are available to order in the shop or online – and can be customised to suit. Hot and cold food as well as a beautifully chosen range of wines, champagnes, cider, gins, vodka etc are available to eat/drink in or to take away. The tea terrace and garden (with incredible views of Bulwick park) are the perfect places to while away a summer’s afternoon.
