Take Italy Bistrot opened in 2024 in Grantham with the goal of becoming a go-to spot for lovers of Italian food. The restaurant is spearheaded by Cristian Romeo who moved to Grantham with his family from Reggio Calabria in Italy. They started a takeaway business during the pandemic and it became so successful that they decided to open a restaurant.
Cristian and his family want Take Bistrot to be an important culinary hub for Grantham and so far it’s going really well. The food is authentically Italian and the atmosphere is one of a classic neighbourhood bistrot that are so loved in Italy.
They are open in the mornings for coffee, paninis and delectable pastries such as croissants, Cannolo Siciliano and Bombolone. They also serve gelato which, as their menu rightly points out, “is always a good idea”!
The evening menu has plenty of starter options to kick you off such as bruschetta, fritto misto and polpette. Mains include steaks, breaded chicken and the Italian mixed grill, plus wonderful pastas such as gnocchi alla sorrentina, carbonara and amatriciana. Of course there are a fantastic selection of pizzas too, inspired by different regions of Italy.
This is a family that is passionate about the flavours of their homeland and passionate about sharing them with the people of their adopted town. The restaurant’s motto is “eat well, laugh often, love much” – and who could argue with that?
