The Chequers Inn
The Chequers Inn is a classic British freehouse with seven bedrooms, in the heart of the Peak District serving exceptional quality food and drink. Dating back to the 16th century, it boasts original charm, while offering a top-class dining experience with produce sourced from the best local suppliers.
Owners Jonathan and Joanne Tindall have run Chequers Inn since 2002. They also run the Sir William Hotel in Grindleford and Chequers Out (their outside catering company). The menu changes seasonally and reflects the best of what’s available. Our reviewers tried the Derbyshire lamb rump and the homemade Derbyshire burger with homemade slaw and onion rings; both delicious. And for dessert, crème brulee and cheeseboard.
There’s a lovely secluded garden area, plus a direct route up onto the Peak District edges so it’s the perfect stop off for those who never travel without their walking boots.
