The George, Great Oxendon

The George is the sister pub of The Joiner’s Arms in Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire. Owners Stephen and Tracey Fitzpatrick have spent over two years turning it into a modern restaurant, bar and hotel. The George has been an inn as far back as the 13th century and has now been returned to its former glory. Situated in Great Oxendon, near Market Harborough, it’s the perfect location to explore Rutland.

The restaurant is the centrepiece to The George. It’s been decorated in a modern style and the menus reflect the commitment to quality. The focus is on using the best ingredients to create seasonal dishes blending creativity with flavour. Where possible, they support local suppliers, British farmers and artisan producers.

The A La Carte menu combines pub staples such as bangers & mash and chicken Kiev; with modern classics like slow cooked pork rib eye or duck confit. There’s always plenty of fresh fish on offer too.

The bar is well-stocked with ales, lagers, wines and spirits, plus a decent cocktail list. An ideal spot to relax after a Rutland dog walk!

And if you’re planning on spending a few days exploring the area, there are four beautifully appointed rooms available.
