Two Old Goats

Two Old Goats is the brainchild of two friends, Alison and Clare, who decided to follow their dream and set up in business together. Their ethos is all about homemade, locally sourced healthy food, with the environment in mind.

After starting out at the Eco Village, they’re now only a few minutes’ walk away in Church Square, in the centre of Market Harborough. They’ve created a bright, welcoming space with clean décor and artwork that points to Alison’s South African homeland. Children are more than welcome and there are plenty of colouring books and crayons to keep them entertained.

Their feel-good ‘mood food’ is simple, beautifully presented and often gluten-free. There are lots of vegetarian or vegan options, as well as meaty favourites like South African ‘boerewors’ sausage. Breakfasts include spiced avocado, masala scrambled eggs or toast with homemade jam. The Goat Bowls are rich nourishing salads topped with falafel, halloumi or north African chicken. Or if you fancy something warming, the Soul Bowls such as Cape Malay chicken curry or harissa slow cooked bean will definitely fill you up!

Everything on the menu is made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients from independent businesses. Their coffee is from Jute; their bread from Garage Bakehouse, Hambleton Bakery or Bakery by Knife and Fork; the meat is from The Artisan Butchers or Waterloo Cottage Farm and the delicious cakes are from Caked.

The environment is very important to the Two Old Goats. They use ingredients across multiple dishes to reduce food waste and even stop cooking mid-afternoon to ensure they sell out. They encourage customers to bring their own packaging, or bring back jars for recycling.

If ‘food with attitude’ means delicious, healthy, environmentally-friendly modern food, with great service; then we’re all in!
