Clarkes Queniborough
Established in 1982, Clarkes Queniborough is a family business that started as a butcher’s shop but has now become much more offering a deli among other things. In 1988, the family branched out into making and selling ready meals which have become so popular they are sold in many shops from village stores to farm shops and some even go international!
The Clarke family say: “we’re proud to be different in an age where mass production is common”, and all meals are prepared in the Queniborough shop using locally reared and grown produce.
There’s a lot to choose from including Boeuf Bourguignon – tender chunks of steak in a red wine sauce laced with button mushrooms, baby onions and smoked bacon lardons; Chicken in Stilton and Celery Sauce – poached chicken breast in local blue stilton sauce with celery and mushrooms, and Chicken Tikka Masala – succulent pieces of marinated chicken breast in a mild, spiced, creamy sauce with coriander.
On the butcher’s counter you’ll find local meat including lamb, beef, pork, chicken, game, and just about anything you fancy with knowledgeable staff to help you choose.
Homemade pork pies are always available and include – classic pork pies, caramelised onion chutney and blue Stilton (winner of a Great Taste Award 2020) and tomato chutney and Red Leicester.
Manor Farm Dairy supply yoghurts, Barkby Bakehouse bake the bread and many other local suppliers are also stocked.
