Thrussington’s Village Store is a delightful deli and tearoom overlooking the village green. It was named Great Food Club’s Deli of the Year 2020/21.
Run by husband and wife team Ben and Jo Meacock, it stocks a good range of produce including local (and not so local) cheeses, charcuterie, olives, fresh bread from Hambleton Bakery, pork pies, jams and more.
The tearoom, which also runs regular bistro nights, is an ideal rural venue for meeting friends for coffee, lunch or afternoon tea and children are always welcome (there are lots of toys to play with and books to read, plus high chairs and baby-changing facilities).
Hot and cold food and drinks are available, plus children’s sandwiches and snacks. In spring and summer, the outside seating area with sandpit comes into play.
“We’re very family-friendly here,” says Jo. “Muddy boots are always welcome too and there’s no need to leave them at the door. We’re very happy to have dogs in our outdoor areas and water is always provided.”
Thrussington locals are lucky to have this warm slice of rural loveliness and less fortunate villages can only look on with envy.
Gifts and local crafts are also on sale here.
