Since their launch in 2017, the Leicestershire Curry Awards have become a major local event, reflecting the rich diversity of South Asian cuisine in a county traditionally associated with pork pies and Stilton cheese.


The Leicestershire Curry Awards were founded by Romail Gulzar, winner of a Great Food Club Hero Award 2024/5 for his work promoting the curry scene. He was the driving force behind Leicester’s recent recognition as England’s Curry Capital.

Romail created his awards to celebrate the dedication and skill of Leicestershire’s South Asian establishments. Driven by his enthusiasm for community integration, his vision has evolved into a prestigious annual awards.
