Prana Indian Restaurant on Mill Road in Cambridge has been named Best Contemporary Indian Restaurant 2026 in Cambridgeshire at the LUXlife Restaurant and Bar Awards, as the business marks ten years since opening in 2016.
Led by owner Kobir Ahmed, Prana – which is featured on this website’s map of recommended independents and in the Great Food Club Handbook 2026 – has built a strong reputation in Cambridge for refined Indian cooking, attentive service and consistent standards. The award comes at a challenging time for hospitality, with rising costs, staffing pressures and shifting customer habits affecting restaurants across the UK.
Despite this, Prana has continued to grow its following, with Kobir crediting the team and local support for the restaurant’s success.
“We’re incredibly proud to win this award, especially in the current environment,” he said. “This reflects resilience, consistency and the support we’ve had from the community.”
To mark the anniversary, the restaurant has released a family photograph (above) showing three generations behind the business: Kobir Ahmed alongside his father, Mohammad Quadir, and his son, Rizwan Ahmed.
Alongside the award, Prana is also celebrating ten consecutive years of a five-star Food Hygiene rating, following its latest inspection.
At 97 Mill Road, Cambridge, on the corner of Gwydir Street, Prana is entering its next chapter, focusing on maintaining standards while adapting to the evolving hospitality landscape.
