Bellaccino’s, St Albans

Bellaccino’s is a wonderful family-run Italian restaurant on historic French Row in the heart of St Albans. The Agnoni family opened Bellaccino’s in 2013 as a café serving freshly baked cakes, paninis and great coffee. Things were going well, but in 2020 the family decided to change things up and they switched Bellaccino’s to be a restaurant. Their ambition was to focus on fresh, simple but elegant dining.

Sadly, owner Cimi passed in 2022, leaving wife Eva and sons Hygert and Erald to take it forward and carry on the legacy.

Bellaccino’s is such a fantastic spot for cosy glasses of wine and big bowls of lasagne or spaghetti in the winter, or gamberi linguine and a glass of gavi when the big windows are open on a summer’s evening. But whenever you visit you’re guaranteed fabulous Italian cooking, a very warm welcome and friendly, attentive service. The menu is good-sized and well curated, whilst not being overwhelming – and the same applies to the wine list. Plus they mix a very decent negroni there too!

This is a lovely restaurant run by a wonderful family – definitely recommended!
