For great tapas in an informal, friendly and modern setting, look no further than the Perkins family-owned Escabeche, located just off the busy main road in West Bridgford.
Inspired by the Mediterranean tradition of sharing great food, it serves a fantastic range of Spanish-style dishes, as well as a variety of innovative tapas, drawing on several international influences.
Escabeche is open for breakfast daily from 10am, offering a Catalan-inspired ‘Breakfast completo’ and a range of lighter dishes such as eggs with chorizo. The ‘menu del dia’ is excellent value, offering flatbreads, two tapas and one side, and featuring dishes such as chargrilled lamb koftas and mackerel with salsa verdi.
The evening menu is extensive and varied, with dishes such as molasses-glazed duck leg confit; tempura soft-shell crab bocatas; aubergine, chickpea and tomato tagine; and platters of Spanish cold meats and cheeses. It would be hard not to find something for everyone here.
Dishes are beautifully presented and brought to the table as they are ready in the traditional style, and the staff are friendly and attentive. There is regular live music here and if the sun comes out, Escabeche has a good-sized terrace to make the most of the weather.
