Hanwell Wine Estate
Hanwell Wine Estate in South Nottinghamshire is owned by William and Helenka Brown who planted their first vines (Champagne varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier) in 2012 and the first harvest took place in 2015.
Wine is in Helenka’s blood – her parents Tony and Veronica Skuriat own nearby Eglantine Vineyard in Costock and have a purpose-built winery. Grapes harvested at Hanwell Wine Estate are sent to the winery where they are made into English Sparkling Wine using the traditional Champagne method.
From March to September, you can book tickets for Hanwell’s Vineyard Experience where you can learn all about the wine and of course, taste some for yourself. Or if you’re visiting the shop, you can pick up a leaflet and do a self-guided tour.
A cafe is open from Easter until September and homemade cake and wine is always on offer.
