Set in the picturesque west Leicestershire village of Sutton Cheney, Hercules Revived is an honest English country coaching inn.

Late in 2012 a team of heritage people and craftsmen totally reformed the tired 17th century inn, creating a wonderfully relaxed bar and simple dining area with a large open fire on the ground floor . On the first floor is a series of elegantly decorated, cosy restaurant rooms.

Hercules Revived’s head chef Glyn Windross and his team create hearty English fare with an emphasis on the freshest of seasonal ingredients. The inn has found a lovely bunch of local producers providing everything from meat, fish and vegetables to delicious English cheeses.

The innkeeper has a particular passion for his ales and wines, keeping a close eye on every detail. The wine list perfectly complements the food, and is again honest yet varied, featuring both new and old world classics with a few viniculture surprises. A collection of perfectly kept mainstream lagers, beers and ales sit alongside a few gems from local breweries, including the Tunnel Brewery of Ansley, giving Hercules Revived a unique appeal.

Hercules Revived evokes memories of how a great English country inn should be, so whether you like to eat lightly or heartily, casually or smartly, or just have a relaxed pint, this could well be your perfect bolt hole.

    Attended a six-course beer dinner upstairs at The Hercules Revived in March 2017. On arrival on a Saturday afternoon, the bar was buzzing – how many village pubs can say that these days? We then headed upstairs – a plush-feeling, nicely decorated space divided into three small dining areas. The food, cooked by head chef Glyn Windross, was excellent, as were the beer matches. The Hercules Revived is clearly run really well by someone who knows what they are doing. Moreover, the team are passionate about hospitality and love to please. Head to the Hercules Revived – you’ll enjoy it!

    A party of 6 had a great meal the week before Christmas. Good atmosphere, great wine and beer and brilliant service from the staff and the owner. Chef coming out and asking if we were all OK was a nice touch as well. Thoroughly recommend this venue!
