Kathmandu Lounge brings the food of Nepal to Peterborough through owner Ram ‘Kris’ Krishna, Nepal-born and based in Britain for over 20 years. Also behind Gurkha Lounge in Hampton, Kris regularly returns home for new recipes and ideas.
The menu ranges across Nepalese and Indian cooking, but the Nepalese dishes are the ones to seek out. Momo come filled with chicken, lamb, vegetables or king prawn, served with sesame and Sichuan-pepper chutney. Duck sekuwa brings ginger, garlic and spice, while goat curry follows a homemade recipe inspired by Kris’s mother. Other choices include timure chicken with Sichuan pepper, kwati made with nine beans, and Himalayan fish curry with mustard seeds and garlic.
There’s generosity behind the restaurant too: in 2026, Kris organised a fundraising dinner for people affected by devastating floods in Nepal, donating every ticket sale to relief efforts.
