Nonna’s Supper Club in Tring is a wonderful multi-generational family business. It’s run by Georgina Sells and her grandmother Romana (her Nonna). Romana came to the UK from Calabria in Italy over 60 years ago and settled, married and started a family. Years later, young Georgina growing up in an Italian household, realised that that food would be a huge part of her life.
In 2018 grandmother and granddaughter decided to share their love of cooking and started a supper club in Georgina’s home. But as with so many businesses, lockdown was pivotal. As they couldn’t run the supper clubs any more, they took their cooking on the road. It was so successful that they decided to put down roots and opened this amazing café and deli in the middle of Tring.
The pantry at the rear contains all sorts of deli classics such as pastas, olive oils, sauces and wine. Up front you find a lively café with amazing coffee and homemade Italian goodies like ciabattas, focaccias, antipasti or bigger plates such as cannelloni or lasagne. And of course there are lots of sweet treats too. For example, the white chocolate cannoli are excellent.
But Nonna’s is more than just a café, this is a real community hub. A bustling place, with friendly faces, wonderful service and a real taste of Italy. Fantastico!
