Red Lion, Soham
The Red Lion can trace its history back to 1620 when it was the Black Swan Alehouse and over the years there have been plenty of changes which made it almost unrecognisable from the original building. In 2015, it was purchased by the current owner and two years of renovations began to breathe new life into this historic inn.
Today, you’ll find a comfortable and relaxed environment with rustic charm and plenty of character. The menu changes from week to week depending on what is in season (the focus is very much on local produce) but for a taster, how about Lebanese lamb with tzatziki and pomegranate or Provencal pepper stew with butter beans, capers and black olives? There’s a set lunch menu and an a la carte menu is also served at lunch and in the evenings. And Sundays are all about the roast – Roast ribeye of beef with Yorkshire pudding and horseradish sauce, Slow roast belly of Blythburgh pork with crackling and apple sauce and more – so much choice!
