Rosey Lea is a group of café and tearooms based in and around Bishop’s Stortford. The journey began in 2012, when founder Leanne Gregory opened the first location in Market Square, driven by a passion for homemade food, loose‑leaf tea and a welcoming, homely atmosphere. Since then, they’ve opened two additional locations: a converted barn at Wickham Hall and a branch called The Squadron over the Essex border at North Weald Airfield.
At each location, the menu reflects Rosey Lea’s commitment to comfort, quality, and local sourcing: generous breakfasts, hearty lunches, classic afternoon teas, homemade cakes and baked goods, all served with carefully chosen loose‑leaf teas or freshly brewed coffee. The food feels like home cooking and the ambience of patterned wallpaper, bone‑china crockery and cosy interior is recreating a comforting time from generations ago.
But that doesn’t mean it’s a business stuck in the past, far from it. Not only can you pop in for tea and cakes, but you can also order sandwich platters, hampers or celebration cakes. Plus they’ll cater events too and you can even book the entire venue for private hire.
This is a lovely business with a nod to the past, but focused on the future!
