Smiths Farm Shop
Smiths Farm Shop is a family business that began life in 1958 selling strawberries at the farm gate in the summer. Potatoes followed in the winter and Smiths was one of the UK’s first farms to import asparagus from the eastern Mediterranean, helping to build the vegetable’s popularity.
The farm shop has grown dramatically since then but remains true to its roots, offering the best seasonal produce. Smiths works closely with carefully chosen businesses, and sustainability is at the heart of the business. You’ll find asparagus, potatoes and squashes grown on the surrounding farmland, plus all the other fruit and veg you could wish for from trusted suppliers. Meat is provided by Sauls of Spratton, which has been in business since 1926; there’s a fish van for seafood lovers; dairy products come from eight miles down the road, and the bread is made at a nearby bakery that’s been using the same recipe for 150 years.
Add to this a deli, confectionery, preserves, garden and pet supplies, and some great locally-produced booze, and you’ve got the recipe for a brilliant farm shop indeed.
