Spring Lane Farm Shop
Spring Lane Farm shop is a spacious, traditional family-run farm shop. It has been owned and farmed by the Spencer Family since 1939. Farmhouse, granary, wholemeal and multi-seed bread is baked on-site daily – including the award-winning “Dinky” rolls. The shop also boasts its own butchery offering a great selection of beef, lamb, pork and game, plus a huge variety of hand-made sausages and home-cured meats. There is a well-stocked cheese counter and deli featuring a host of local cheeses, included three makes of Stilton, three types of pork pie and a range of cooked meats.
The shop stocks a select range of fruit and vegetables (as much of it sourced as locally as possible, including their own home-grown Wilja potatoes). All the baked goods, breads, cakes, pies and ready-meals – including cottage pies, beef cobblers (which we treated ourselves too when we visited) meat and vegetable casseroles, and Italian style meatballs – are made from scratch in the bakery and are available to buy either fresh or frozen. There is also a hot-food counter selling house sausage rolls and a variety of pasties, as well as cold sandwiches, cake and pastries.
Spring Lane Farm Shop is clearly all about quality, with an excellent selection of produce in a bright and airy setting. The shop is easily accessible and has plenty of parking, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. If you are local to this area, Spring Lane Farm Shop should be high on your “to-visit” list!
