Boot & Shoe in Flintham is a smart modern country pub brought back to life by the team behind Lincoln’s highly regarded White Horse. Reopened in September 2025, it brings fresh energy to this village setting, combining a relaxed bar, polished floorboards, simple interiors, and a welcoming feel with a food and drink offering that aims well above the standard pub level.
There’s thought behind the drinks as well as the food, with cask ales, rotating craft beers, good wines, cocktails and coffee all part of the appeal. The kitchen works with seasonal ingredients and a menu that moves between snackable small plates, pies, burgers and more substantial mains. Sample dishes have included Korean fried chicken with pickled red cabbage, garlic yoghurt and gochujang, chicken liver parfait with red onion marmalade and toasted brioche, and wild mushroom soup with goat’s curd agnolotti, tarragon and puffed buckwheat.
Larger plates show the same ambition, from pan-fried sea trout with caper butter sauce, crushed new potatoes, cavolo nero and chimichurri to a 12oz pork tomahawk with peppercorn sauce and rosemary fries. There are also house pies such as steak and Cote Hill Blue pie or heritage pumpkin and goat’s cheese pie, both served with creamy mash, gravy and honey-roasted root vegetables. Burgers are another strong suit, including an aged beef cheeseburger and a marinated tofu burger with pickled red cabbage and tahini mayonnaise.
Sunday lunch has quickly built a strong reputation too, with generous roasts, proper gravy and comforting puddings helping make this a place people return to. Add in a pleasant garden for warmer days and Boot & Shoe looks like a pub with both broad appeal and real intent.
