The Boot and Shoe Inn
On the advice of one of our members, we recently visited The Boot and Shoe Inn near Newark. We think it’s a belting pub where the welcome is warm and the atmosphere is relaxed. It’s certainly a charming place to go for a meal with plenty of characterful features and tasteful interiors. In winter, curl up next to the fire and when the weather is fine, head outside to the terrace with a glass of wine.
Food is served from Wednesday to Sunday and there’s a fixed price menu from 12-6pm with starters including duck and chicken liver pate and homemade soup, mains such as beer battered fish and chips and butternut squash tartlet and to finish you might fancy the chocolate brownie or Biscoff and coffee cheesecake. An a la carte menu is available from 5-8.30pm with substantial dishes including monkfish, chorizo and chicken linguine and grilled lamb rump. There’s a more casual bar menu and the pizzas are heartily recommended. And of course, you can expect a top roast on a Sunday.
