The Griffin Inn, Irnham

The Griffin Inn is the sister property of Irnham Hall, which dates back to 1380 and is the private home of the Benton Jones family. If you’re looking for a luxurious place to stay, The Griffin Inn has six en-suite rooms, but if you’ve only time to visit for a meal, you’ll find it welcoming, comfortable and memorable.

Head chef Michael Prescott uses plenty of local ingredients, including beef and game from Irnham Hall Estate. Expect dishes such as salad of smoked duck with fig, pinenuts and balsamic dressing, and skate wing baked en papillote with lemon and caper butter. Dine inside or in the beautiful garden – children and dogs are welcome.

In 2020, The Griffin won the bed-and-breakfast reality TV show, Four in a Bed. So if you fancy a short foodie break – or just somewhere delicious for lunch or dinner – we recommend a trip to Irnham. It is open seven days a week, offering a ‘Lunch For Less’ deal on Monday and Tuesday.
