The Miners Arms, Carsington

The Miners Arms is a great country pub that’s been given a fantastic renovation – think contemporary yet rustic. It’s recently been taken over by Michael and Kerrie Thompson, who pride themselves on fresh food and supporting local farmers and suppliers. The pub is nestled in the heart of Carsington village, a settlement that was moved in order to construct the nearby Carsington Reservoir. The reservoir is a beautiful expanse of water with an 8-mile circular walk. Why not build up an appetite beforehand, with a walk?

The menu offers a range of pub classics, tapas-style plates, burgers, ploughman’s lunches and afternoon teas. Sunday lunch is served in three sittings for the afternoon. The roast sharing platter means you can try three types of meat with all the trimmings.

Regular pop-up events such as pizza night, tapas evenings or weekend hog roasts make for special occasions and there’s an outdoor bar serving cocktails, slushies and mocktails.
