The Swan Inn in Mountsorrel is a proper, traditional pub with awards to prove it, having been crowned CAMRA Pub of the Year for Loughborough and North West Leicestershire. As you’d expect then, the beer is a big deal here and you’ll always find something new to try. In fact, in 2023, The Swan launched an in-house microbrewery, Soar Brew Co.
The Swan has been run by Danny and Helen since 2012 and is a fixture of the local community. In the summer, sit in the garden with a chilled glass of wine and as the colder weather sets in, get cosy inside next to the fire.
This Grade II-listed building dates back to the 17th century and it’s believed to have been visited by the notorious highwayman, Dick Turpin. Thankfully, you’re not likely to run into him and his ill-tempered ways today.
There’s no kitchen here, but they do host regular traders including pizza vans and a pop-up Thai kitchen.
