A pure drinkers’ pub, but worth your time
The Vaults is a classic stone-built English pub beside the church in Uppingham’s Market Place. Part of the Wills Inns family since 2011, it’s first and foremost a drinkers’ pub, pouring well-kept, Cask Marque-accredited real ales alongside a solid range of lagers and other favourites.
Downstairs, the bar feels properly local, with a friendly team, regulars who know each other, and dogs welcome. Head upstairs for a pool table, dartboard and screens showing major sporting fixtures. There’s also a first-floor lounge that groups can book in advance.
The Vaults doesn’t serve food day to day, but it does run the occasional Pub Grub Club with comforting classics such as chicken curry, lasagne and casseroles. If you want a meal in the Market Place, you’re a few steps from sister venues Don Paddy’s and The Falcon Hotel. That makes The Vaults a handy starting or finishing point for an Uppingham night out.
