It might be a microbrewery, but Zest Brewery, founded in 1996 as Oldershaw Beers, brews more than 250,000 pints a year and delivers to pubs and shops all over the UK. It also has a brewery shop selling bottled beers on-site, open from 9am-4pm, Monday to Friday.
From its nine-barrel plant (324 gallons per brew) at Barkston Heath near Belton House, not far from Grantham, Zest creates some excellent, diverse brews that have won several awards. Great Food Club favourites include Blonde Volupta – a zesty, refreshing fruity number; best-selling Newton’s Drop – a well-balanced combination of earthy, caramelly malts and aromatic hops; and Atomic IPA.
Zest is run by Kathy Britton – qualified beer sommelier since 2013. Kathy regularly gets stuck into the brewing alongside head brewer Colin Church.
Zest also sells pins (small casks) for private parties. A pin contains 36 pints. Please call the brewery four weeks in advance to pre-order.
