Fancy a cookery demo in your kitchen? Speak to Rutland’s Pink Figs

What could be better than an evening of good food shared with good friends? Well, there is one thing… food cooked by the amazing Pink Figs ladies…

The Pink Figs are Gilly, Caryl and Liz – three busy mums from Rutland with an absolute passion for food. Their new venture, hosting ‘pop-up’ cookery demonstrations, is the perfect way for them to share their expert foodie knowledge and fab recipes in the comfort of your own kitchen.

I was lucky enough to enjoy a wonderful evening run by The Pink Figs recently. Our host had invited a handful of friends for a relaxed gathering in her kitchen – she’d opted for an Asian theme and once the wine was poured let Gilly, Caryl and Liz work their magic.

The team demonstrated six great dishes and I can honestly say there isn’t one recipe I won’t be trying at home. The ladies were engaging and relaxed yet informative, which hit the perfect note as they talked us through starters, mains and a pud whilst we watched, listened and waited to eat all their hard work!

fullsizerender_2Our dishes for the evening included an easy miso soup absolutely packed with flavour; amazing Thai-spiced salmon burgers; winter beef salad with chilli and coconut; a fragrant vegetable curry that even a meat lover would enjoy; incredible sea bass with a spiced herb crust; and a lemongrass and coconut pannacotta that even a pudding novice like me could attempt at home.

fullsizerender_1As well as getting to eat all the delicious food that was being cooked for us, The Pink Figs gave us loads of handy tips and info – from easy cheats such as buying frozen mango (no more stressing about whether your mango will ripen in time!) to how to make your own sweet chilli oil that isn’t packed with sugar. I also came away with a wish list of great kitchen gadgets and utensils having seen the wonders they can perform.

With all the recipes to take away in a handy booklet after you’ve seen the experts in action, you can wow friends and families by making the delicious dishes at home. We also got lots of advice on how to flex the recipes from easy midweek suppers to dinner party stunners.

Gather together a group of foodie friends and book yourself a demo from The Pink Figs, you definitely won’t be disappointed.
