Althorp Coaching Inn

Formerly known as the Fox & Hounds, this charming pub had been closed for three years before reopening in October 2022 and was renamed Althorp Coaching Inn. It was built in the 17th century and has retained plenty of its original character with features including stone floors, fireplaces and oak beams. And for the locals, it’s at the centre of village life once again – a great menu brought to life with locally sourced ingredients, music evenings and a big screen for showing big sporting events.

We recently paid them a visit and tucked into a delicious chicken and sweet potato pie and a pint of locally-brewed ale. It’s got a great feel and we are keen to return again. Pizzas are always popular and roast dinners with delicious beef dripping roasties attract plenty of folk from outside the village. And if you fancy a special tipple, try a seasonal cocktail.
