Bowthorpe Park Farm
Bowthorpe Park Farm is run by the Blanchard family and has a rather unique claim to fame – it’s home to the Bowthorpe Oak – the UK’s largest girthed oak tree, reputedly around 1000 years old. In its time, you can only imagine what this mighty tree has seen.
The farm shop is open at weekends and bank holidays (you can also order online) and offers an array of delicious home-reared meat. Beef is from the Pedigree Lincoln Red cattle, lamb from Jacob sheep and pork from the Berkshire pigs. These animals graze on the pastures of the farm and are slow to mature making for much tastier meat. The farm also has its own flock of pedigree hens producing delicious eggs and there’s other goodies from trusted local suppliers, too.
