Originally from Turin, Gelato Village is an authentic Italian ice cream parlour that produces gelato and sorbetto on the premises, using a traditional Italian churning method known as ‘mantecazione’.
One of the best things about Gelato Village is its commitment to sourcing local ingredients, and its clear passion for other independent food and drink businesses. So all of Gelato Village’s non-homogenised milk comes from a herd of Red Poll cows at Belvoir Ridge Creamery in Eastwell, Leicestershire. And all sorbettos are made with fruit only, purchased at Leicester Market.
The quality of the ice cream is superb: dense, creamy, luxurious gelato, and light, fresh-tasting sorbetto, neither with any artificial colours, flavourings or preservatives. These are served alongside excellent coffees, waffles and Italian pastries in a lovely, vibrant atmosphere that brings a little bit of Italy to Leicester.
