Gelston Lamb

Gelston Lamb is a family-run farm a few miles from Grantham. Husband and wife team Chris and Louise Elkington look after a flock of 500 breeding ewes on their 200-acre farm.

They have a real farm-to-fork outlook and are committed to ensuring their meat’s provenance. They are also focused on sustainable practices that work in harmony with the local environment. That means the flock grazing over grass, clover and herbal leys; it means rearing the lamb slowly and naturally and it means hanging the meat for 7-10 days. They also use a local abattoir and their own team of butchers on their farm.

They love to sell their lamb, hogget and mutton directly to the public but also supply pubs and restaurants, including The Chequers at Woolsthorpe and The Kings Head Navenby. They’ve also set up a monthly pop-up market at the farm, where they are joined by other local producers such as Cote Hill Cheese. Produce can be delivered locally or nationwide, or via click and collect at the farm.

Gelston Lamb, a finalist in the Food Producer category of our 2024/5 awards, continues to go from strength to strength. A top-quality family-operated local producer and we wish them every success!
